I don’t know whether anyone is going to be interested, but here is my latest gym training schedule.

I’ll start with a 5 minute warm up on the cross trainer. This gets all the muscles going and warms up, and burns a few extra calories too.

After that I’ll go onto the treadmill for around twenty minutes. I’ve got a good pair of shoes for this, the Asics Gel Nimbus 12, so that I don’t have to worry about getting an injury hopefully. Treadmills are pretty cushioned, so there isn’t such a problem with this, but it always pays to be careful after all.

By this point I should be warmed up, so it’s time for some weights. I generally do a circuit of weights for the upper body, so I’ll stick with that, followed by some leg weights such as the leg extension.

To warm down I’ll do 15 minutes on the bike. By this point I’ll be practically dead!

Whether I’m going to stick with it or not is a different matter, but I always think it’s best to have a plan to begin with! Here is what I’m going to be doing three times a week. What do you think? I’ll let you know how it goes, because I’m going to try it tonight.

Moving house is definitely one of the most stressful experiences you can go through. This is especially true if you need to make all your furniture from flat packed IKEA kits, which can take hours even though they are meant to be easy! Here are my top tips for making flat packed kits (I’m a bit of an expert now).

Number 1 – Read the instructions carefully. People told me this before I stared, and I did try to be as careful as possible, but you need to be really thorough in making sure that you’ve got something the right way around. Most mistakes can be corrected – although that involves a lot more stress and trying to unscrew things back to a point where you can fix it – but sometimes you can’t. We only made one bad mistake – hammering in a one way plastic “nail” (sorry for the un-technical term) – but luckily the end result doesn’t look too bad.

Also, don’t be fooled by the instructions when trying to put together big items. If it says you need two people to put it up, then you probably need three. Putting together a large wardrobe while balancing it on your back isn’t a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Of course, the simple solution to all these problems is to not buy flat packed furniture from IKEA. It is a cheap way of setting up a home though – we saved a huge amount of money as our flat is unfurnished and hence we had to buy a lot of stuff. If we’d gone “upmarket” then it would of cost thousands. IKEA aren’t too bad either, the instructions are good on the whole, and for the price you can’t really complain. Although it would be nice if they entered the modern era but allowing you to order ALL their catalogue online, rather than just a select few items. Does anyone know why they do this? Seems very strange to me, and could mean they are missing out on potential customers.

The question on everyone’s lips at the moment is whether or not Wayne Rooney should have handed in his transfer request and left Manchester United. I personally think it would have been a foolish decision that would have come back to haunt him, but even so, he hasn’t done much good to his reputation with the United fans. I’m sure that if he starts scoring lots of goals they will begin to forget, but I doubt he will ever be held up as the “future of Man Utd” again – it will be difficult for the fans to trust him.

So why didn’t he leave? Manchester United are one of the most successful clubs in the world, with probably the best manager. Yes, he will leave at some point, but he’s not leaving now, so it seemed strange that Wayne decided to leave now (or almost did anyway). There is no way that Ferguson will leave on a bad note, so he will try his best to build one more winning team.

With that said, the current United team needs a lot of work. Some of the players aren’t good enough, and some are too young to show their full talent. Some of just completely gone off the boil and seem to have forgotten how to play football at all – Michael Carrick, who was once a top player, comes to mind.

So I think Rooney made a big mistake by saying he was going to leave. If he decides to go on the future, I think he’ll regret it.

Guinea pigs aren’t a type of pet that I would have considered buying in the past, but since we have got our two indoor pigs (not really my decision to get them in the first place by the way) I’ve grown to like them! I wanted to go through some of the reasons why I’ve changed my mind about guinea pigs in this article, hopefully it will help some of you to decide whether they are the right pets for you.

The main reason I didn’t want to get a guinea pig in the past is because I thought they would smell. Thankfully, that’s not the case. I think that guinea pigs often smell because they are kept in wooden cages which begin to soak in urine after a while, but that doesn’t happen with a plastic cage, so as long as you clean it out once a week there is no reason why a guinea pig cage should smell.

Another reason is that guinea pigs don’t seem to bite. I had hamsters when I was a kid, and they always used to bite, mainly because they got so scared. Guinea pigs are even easier to scare, but they don’t seem to want to bite you. The only time they may hurt is if they scratch, but that’s purely accidental (and probably your fault if you aren’t holding them properly).

Of course, it’s not a good idea to put your guineas on carpets, because they aren’t very easy to potty train (not that we’ve actually tried). They make good pets, and they haven’t had an “accident” on us yet, but they certainly won’t hesitate to go on the floor.

All in tall, I’m pleased we got some guinea pigs. They need to be kept in pairs which is why we bought two, but we’ll certainly be getting more in the future as long as nothing goes wrong!
