Did WR make the right chioce?
The question on everyone’s lips at the moment is whether or not Wayne Rooney should have handed in his transfer request and left Manchester United. I personally think it would have been a foolish decision that would have come back to haunt him, but even so, he hasn’t done much good to his reputation with the United fans. I’m sure that if he starts scoring lots of goals they will begin to forget, but I doubt he will ever be held up as the “future of Man Utd” again – it will be difficult for the fans to trust him.
So why didn’t he leave? Manchester United are one of the most successful clubs in the world, with probably the best manager. Yes, he will leave at some point, but he’s not leaving now, so it seemed strange that Wayne decided to leave now (or almost did anyway). There is no way that Ferguson will leave on a bad note, so he will try his best to build one more winning team.
With that said, the current United team needs a lot of work. Some of the players aren’t good enough, and some are too young to show their full talent. Some of just completely gone off the boil and seem to have forgotten how to play football at all – Michael Carrick, who was once a top player, comes to mind.
So I think Rooney made a big mistake by saying he was going to leave. If he decides to go on the future, I think he’ll regret it.
